Morning:
Parents are asked to drop their child at the appropriate gate for them to enter school on time.
Reception and Year 1 parents will be allowed into the playground initially then, once children know their classrooms, parents will be asked to say their goodbyes at the gate.
Afternoon:
Parents will be directed to line up on the street, in year group lines, for gradual entry into the playgrounds for home time collection. With the number of pupils at 840 now, unfortunately we cannot allow all parents in at one time. Please collect your youngest children first and bear with us to allow a safe, swift exit.
Travelling to school
We are committed to encouraging families and staff to walk or cycle to school. The main entrance to the school will be accessed from Perth Road. We have planned for cycle and scooter racks to encourage people to leave their cars at home. There will be no parking available on site except for disabled access and very limited parking in the vicinity of the school.
Food
Lunch time is a fantastic social gathering time and we expect all children to take a free hot school meal. Please let us know of any special food arrangements that your child might need. All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will receive a free school meal at lunch time due to the Government’s universal free school meal initiative. However, if you qualify for free school meals, we urge you to complete an application as the school receives a substantial sum of money to provide additional support. If you have any difficulties completing this application please contact us and we will be happy to help.
At snack time milk is free for your child up until they are five years old. After this they can still order it at a small cost. You will need to register at www.coolmilk.com. Fruit and vegetables are provided free of charge daily. We will give your child a free water bottle in September and please make sure that it is filled with water only and brought to school every day.
Punctuality and Attendance
Student voice tells us that Seven Kings students enjoy coming to school, they feel safe, challenged and cared for.
Seven Kings across both primary and secondary are amongst the highest 10% of schools nationally for achieving high attendance rates when compared against similar schools and all schools.
It is extremely important that children attend school every day and don’t miss out on any of their learning. A single day of missed learning creates gaps in children’s knowledge and conceptual understanding and over time children fall further behind their peers. This also impacts on children’s confidence and self-esteem in class and sets them back further.
Most of our children attend school on time, every day and thus we achieve the results we do, ensuring our young people go on to their first choice destination.
Good punctuality at school is essential for students to achieve their full educational potential. It is also vital for students to form good habits for later life.
We have a staggered start in the morning between 8:40-and 8:50. It is vital that children arrive at school within this time slot. Lessons start promptly and children who are often late miss out on the start of the lesson which can include: addressing misconceptions from the prior day, new learning input or modelling. Lateness also impacts children’s attainment and outcomes and can be unsettling for the children if they enter the classroom late. If you are late your child will have to come into school through the school office.
Thank you for your continued support on getting the children to school every day and on time, giving them the best chance to succeed!
Home Reading
We strongly encourage you to read daily with your child and we will be sending home books and short activities for you to read together. Please use the Home School Communication Book to keep a daily record.
